- Brilliant fun and Informative
- Electrical Maintenance Skills - Industrial Certificate of Competence

- Course content ****
- This is electrical maintenance taught with lots of enthousasam and passion. The tutors are all from industry with tons of experience. They explain what the course objectives are, and guide you through the technical stuff with the help of practical exercises and brilliant course notes.
- Student facilities ****
- Each student had a wide range of industrial equipment to use, which made the course real fun. I never thought I woud be wiring up three phase motors and starters in different configuration within a few days, but the instructor was great. The emphersis was on safe working practices, and the equipment used for the training gave us all confidence. The classrooms were light and had plenty of space, and the lunches that were provided were really good too.
- Social life ****
- There were seven other students on the course, all with different working backgrounds, and this added to the course experience. We were all able to give examples of our own work practices and problems during the course.

- I enjoy the course very much. I think it is tought at a reasonable pace and there is always time for a re-cap. I like the practical side of things and the teachers explain things very well. We get the work that needs to be done and we carry it out in a safe and fashionable manner.
- Student facilities *****
- Its very modern. This is the first yr in the new building and we are * test driving it *. the facilities are excellent and its very clean. there is enough booths for everyone in the class to have there own. there is enough materials to go around for everyone and there is a tool box for everyone in the class. We tidy the work shop after every lesson to keep it nice for the other students.
- Social life *****
- Most of the other students are excellent. There is always a good atmosphere in the classroom and workshop. The teachers are always up for a laugh with us and they always take parts in events that the class organises like football and party's. Its very good and i enjoy every minute of it.

- Course content *****
- The course is spaced over 3 years. Split into 3 six month spells at sea, and 3 six month spells at college. The course is challenging but interesting and fun. Just about all entrants are beginners, knowing nothing about engineering at all. The teachers are usually ex-seamen themsleves and are brimming with experience and enthusiasm. The course is made up of various subjects. Maintenance, science, electrics, welding, mathematics.
- Student facilities *****
- Modern classroom facilities. You stay on a campus which has bunkbed rooms and shower blocks. The college has an engineering department with amazing facilities (engines, workshops etc). Other shared facilities include a library and large I.T Department.
- Social life *****
- You feel a great sense of satisfaction each day. You're constantly learning new things. You are treat and taught with great enthusiasm. The teachers are hand picked to offer the highest level of training. This is made possible as the company who sponsors you pays for your teaching. You pay NO course fees.

- Student facilities ****
- All that was required in a reasonbly accesible location. It was basic food given buty it was good enough.
- Social life ****
- the course was a 3 day course - which meant it was a full agenda so there was little time to socialise but the facilities were fine.

- Course content *****
- The course was very easy to follow. Its a shame the college doesn't have more resources to put into it. Some of the equipment was well - Lacking. Trying to install a perfect socket outlet is nigh on impossible if the socket has been used a hundred times. the screws get worn the backboxes are full of holes. and IF you can find a piece of conduit long enough for your task you had better keep it a secret or youll be linched.
- Student facilities *
- The building itself is fairly modern and new. Understandably after a 9 million pound refit 5 years ago. However the manager of the electrical department needs to spend less money on coffee for the staff and more money on equipment and cable!
- Social life ***
- It depends what class you get lumbered with! 1 class was full of teenagers with attitude and the other was full of people who wanted to learn. Its easy enough to change classes though.
